- MP-Outlook service update completed; all services restored (2009-Dec-22)
- The upgrade problems were were having with the 'MeetingPlace for Outlook' services on the primary web conferencing server have
been solved, the upgrade has been installed along with two 'hotfixes', and all services now appear to be running as expected.
- Notification Service restored; MeetingPlace/Outlook service is still degraded (2009-Dec-21)
- Due to the upgrade problem with the 'MeetingPlace for Outlook' service on the primary web conferencing server,
We have enabled the Notification services on our secondary web conferencing system, which has not been upgraded to MR5.
This has restored the sending of Meeting Notifications for meetings scheduled via the web interface.
Unfortunately, this does not restore the function of the MeetingPlace Outlook Plugin, which depends on the service running on the primary server.
Therefore, users of the MeetingPlace Outlook Plugin will not be able to schedule/modify/delete MeetingPlace meetings through Outlook
until we (working with Cisco support) get the service updated and running again on the primary web conferencing server.
At this time, we advise users of the MeetingPlace Outlook Plugin to schedule/modify/delete meetings through the MeetingPlace web
interface until this problem can be rectified and the service restored..
- MeetingPlace 6.0 MR5 upgrade (2009-Dec-19)
- The ACES MeetingPlace system was updated with Maintenance Release 5 on December 19th. Some problems
were encountered during the upgrade of the "MeetingPlace for Outlook" service that has prevented the successful
upgrade of this component. As a result, the notification service (that sends out meeting scheduling/deletion notices)
is not currently operational. All other services, including web conferencing, are fully operational at this time.
If you notice problems with the system, please report them ASAP to telenet-operations@aces.uiuc.edu
- MeetingPlace 6.0 MR4 upgrade (2009-July-11)
- The ACES MeetingPlace system was updated with Maintenance Release 4 on July 11th.
- Network problems on campus affected MeetingPlace web interface... (2009-Mar-31)
- CITES experienced some fairly widespread networking problems in several Nodes, and on parts of the campus backbone earlier today.
This affected the location where the ACES MeetingPlace hardware is installed. Voice and video calls were unaffected, but the web interface was unavailable/unreachable
for approximately 90 minutes. (from 10am - 11:30am) The problem has been resolved, and access was restored at that time.
- Campus-wide power outage... (2009-Mar-08)
- A campus-wide power outage occurred at 3:23pm on March 8th, due to upstream power grid problems. (Reportedly caused by high winds...)
The ACES MeetingPlace system remained on-line and running on emergency power provided by generators, and CITES was able to keep
the campus network backbone and the campus exit routers operational, so we were able to maintain system availability
during this outage. (Some off-campus sites were unable to reach the system, however, after the campus' DNS servers became unavailable.)
- Cisco MeetingPlace 6.0 MR4 installation postponed... (2009-Feb-04)
- When the CITES MeetingPlace system was updated to MR4, a problem was discovered that seriously affects the ability
of the system when hosting a combined video + audio + web meeting. Cisco has acknowledged the problem and is investigating.
We are postponing installation of this update on the ACES system until a resolution to this problem is available.
- Cisco MeetingPlace 6.0 MR4 released... (2008-Dec-12)
- A new release of fixes and updates/upgrades to the Cisco MeetingPlace system software has been released.
We have been anxiously awaiting this new release, as it includes several fixes for problems that have been
encountered during the implementation of this new system. We will be scheduling a maintenance window sometime
in the near future to install these new versions -- watch this space for updated information...
- CAVEAT: Problems with "dollar" symbol in MeetingPlace password... (2008-Nov 20)
- Please avoid using the "dollar" symbol ("$") anywhere in your MeetingPlace profile password. We have
identified a problem where the use of this character will cause the MeetingPlace system to change the password
to an unknown value after only a minute or so has passed since the password was established.
- New MeetingPlace System now available! (2008-Oct-13)
- The new Cisco Unified MeetingPlace system (version 6.0 MR3) is now fully operational, and has replaced the
older Latitude MeetingPlace system (version 4.3). All active profiles from the old system have been
re-created on the new system. (These individuals should have received an automatically generated email
message with instructions on how to activate their new profile.)
- A profile request form and a password management tool/utility have both been provided via this website.
Requests for new profiles are generally handled within 1-2 business days.
